One of the world’s most successful supermodels is selling her 470 Dinghy to raise money for charity.

Doutzen Kroes, who has made her name as one of the Victoria’s Secret lingerie models, and her sailing yacht appeared in a Dutch advert for Douwe Egberts coffee in 2010. In the commercial she shows her grandmother a picture of herself sailing in a bikini, which prompts her Oma to suggest a modelling career.

The 26-year-old will hand over the dinghy to the highest bidder. “There are bids of €1,000,000 but I think they are not realistic,” she told one of Holland’s leading radio stations. “I have received a serious bid of €20,000. I hope for more people to make a higher bid.”

“The boat is very special to me. It’s a real super sensation sailing race boat,” she added. “To sail a 470, the crew hangs in a trapeze and it’s a spectacular experience to sail it.”

The money will go to Dance4life, a charity which creates awareness about HIV and AIDS amongst young people.
