VIDEO: Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft attends stricken yacht
BARB Search & Rescue hovercraft Spirit Of Lelaina ferried a team of coastguards to a yacht that became stranded on Stert Island at low tide on Sunday
The skipper of the stricken yacht assured Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards that he was fine and was happy to wait on board until the boat refloated on the high tide. Coastguard officer Dave Welland said he was “well equipped with lifejackets and safety equipment”.

However, the skipper issued a mayday at 10.30pm, when the yacht’s mooring ropes became entangled around the propeller, making it impossible to navigate.
Once the mayday was received, two lifeboats were launched from Burnham jetty to recover the stricken yacht.
The yacht was towed to Burnham Yacht Club, where it arrived at 11.15pm
