Tourist catamaran tows 145 water-skiers into record books

The world record for the highest number of water-skiers pulled behind a single boat has been broken after a 114ft catamaran successfully towed 145 water-skiers behind her.

The World Heritage Cruise catamaran Eagle used five miles of rope to pull the skiers one nautical mile inside Macquarie Harbour in Strahan, Tasmania.

Just nine of the 154 skiers fell during the attempt. The previous record was held by the same people, who towed 114 water-skiers across the stretch of water in 2010.

Guinness World Record officials watched the bid and are expected to confirm their place in the record books in the coming weeks.
