Current 470 National Champions Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield, from Hampshire and Devon respectively, finished the weekend in perfect form, recording three straight wins in Sundays three races and “finishing on a high” as Rogers had predicated before racing.

Former Youth Worlds Medallist Graham Vials, sailing with Magnus Leask (both from Hampshire) finished second, having tied on points but have lost on countback. Helena Lucas, from Hampshire, and Sue Parkin from Surrey, were the top women’s crew in fifth.

In the Finn class, current World Champion Frederik Loof, from Sweden, who is in the UK training, won by five points from 1996 Olympic Representative Richard Stenhouse (Leicestershire), with Irelands David Burrows third. For the foreign Finn sailors, it was an ideal chance to assess the venue of next years Gold Cup.

For the Europe’s, squad coach Steve Cockerill (Hampshire) showed his girls the way home winning all of their three races on Sunday. Double Olympian Shirley Robertson, from Hill Head in Hampshire was second overall.
