On September 16 and 17 the Thames will be given a clean up
as part of the annual Cleaner Thames Challenge.

It’s an initiative driven by environmental charity Thames21,
which will see over 100 volunteers clear debris along the country’s longest
river.

Organisers have said that additional pairs of hands will be
welcomed with safety boots for adults, gloves and socks.

Thames21 and the team of volunteers will be working hard to
clean one of the dirtiest stretches of the Thames: the South side of Kew
Bridge. They will be joined by footwear brand Teva, who have pledged to protect
one linear foot of global waterways for every paid of Teva shoes and sandals
sold this year. To date, they have cleaned 70,000ft of waterways.

“The Teva brand was born on the water and we feel a strong
obligation to help protect our most prescious natural resource,” said Joel
Health, Global Marketing Director at Teva. “We’re proud to support
organisations that do vital work to protect water for the environment.”

The clean up will take place at the south side of Kew
Bridge, near Bush Road, TW9 2AN. The first even on Friday 16 will take place
between 9.30am and 12.30pm. The second event, which will be joined by Teva,
will take place between 12,30pm and 3.30pm on Saturday 17.
