A tiny beach hut at Mudeford Spit attracts huge interest - despite the lack of running water

A beautiful beach hut that opens directly onto the sand at Mudeford Spit near Christchurch has hit the market with an asking price of £200,000.

With space for four, a fully fitted kitchen and breathtaking views, it’s expected to be snapped up quickly. Despite the lack of running water, mains electricity and a toilet the hut has already received a lot of interest in the few days since it went on the market.

The 12ft by 18ft wooden hut is expected to reach its asking price as these properties are rarely put up for sale.

The new owner would pay an annual service charge of £1,986 to Christchurch Borough Council plus a reduced council tax fee of £499.56 and would own the leasehold on the property until 2029.

Will Wright of Waterside Properties said: “We have already had lots of people enquire about it and I’ve given details to a lot of people.

“Even before it went on the market we had interest and now people can’t wait to view it.”

The property company, which recently announced a expansion into new offices at Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne, said demand for homes near the sea is still driving growth for their business.

“At a time when other agents are closing offices, we are expanding our network of prime site offices along the coast and continuing to invest in our business,” explained Group Managing Director Peter Halliday.
