Survival expert Bear Grylls has partnered with an Anglesey boat trip business for the venture

Bear Grylls is to
become the face of a new adventure boat tour after partnering with a local
business in Anglesey.

Phil Scott and Tom
Ashwell, owners of the North Wales boat trip company RibRides, approached the
survival expert and TV star to become a business partner in their new foray
into adventure boating in the Irish Sea.

The
duo have bought a 30ft RIB worth £300,000 and are looking for a marina in
Holyhead to base their new business called Bear Grylls Adventure Boat Tours,
which will offer adventure
guides to the unique landscape and open sea around Anglesey.

Mr Scott
told the Daily Post: “We had been running trips on the Menai Strait for
eight years and there was more and more demand from people to expand
on what we had, to go to different places and see different things.

“We knew we
had to invest in a different RIB to take on the challenges offered by
the Irish Sea. We found an awesome RIB and knew we could go to more challenging environments
using this boat.

“What we
didn’t realise was that it had already been tested in extreme arctic
environments by Bear Grylls. When we looked into buying the RIB, we
began a conversation with Bear about Adventure Tourism in the UK.

“Bear is all
about getting people out of the towns and cities and on adventures in the
great outdoors so what we wanted to do fitted perfectly with that
which is exactly why he wanted to get involved in this partnership
with us.”

The boat,
normally for military use only, will undergo trials from Holyhead next week
with trips planned from July.
