The sailing champion is selling three sails he used in his Olympic campaigns to raise money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation

Sailing hero Sir Ben Ainslie has put sails from his Olympic Finns up for auction on eBay.

Ainslie, who is selling a total of three sails, will give the proceeds to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, a charity set up in memory of his friend and fellow Olympian who died in a sailing accident last year.

Finn sails from his 2012, 2008 and 2004 Olympic campaigns are up for sale, with all three auctions ending on the 26th of October.

Ainslie’s sail from the London 2012 Olympics already has bids exceeding £1,000, but with 12 days to go until the auction closes, the price could easily reach double figures.

According to the auction website, the items are all in good condition but unfortunately have not been signed by the man himself.

The auction comes just a few weeks after thousands of sailors across the globe took part in Bart’s Bash, which set the new Guinness World Record for the Largest Sailing Race (24 hours).
