Rescue teams in the River Humber were called out following a report of a man overboard on Wednesday night

Humber Coastguard
spent hours searching for a man overboard on Wednesday night after an alert
from vessel traffic services.




Search and rescue
teams were contacted at 8pm last night following reports that a crewmember had
gone overboard from the Netherlands cargo vessel Freya, close to Grimsby.




A comprehensive search
of the river took place over night, involving Humber and Cleethorpes RNLI
lifeboats, a rescue helicopter from RAF Leconfield and 25 commercial vessel
from the Grimsby area.




Despite looking for
the man for hours and extensive searches of the shorelines, crews were unable
to find him.




The cargo vessel had
been on passage to the Port of Immingham when the incident happened.
