Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team skipper Ian Walker has become the first British skipper to win the Volvo Ocean Race after his team finished third in leg 8.
Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing took 3 days 14 hours 5 minutes and 17 seconds to complete the leg, from Lisbon to Lorient and are now uncatchable.

The winners of the leg, Team SCA, became the first all-female crew to win a leg of the Volvo Ocean Race for 25 years, coming home in a time of 3 days 13 hours 11 minutes and 11 seconds.
British skipper Sam Davies said: “Thanks to everybody for all your support. It’s not really sunk in yet. It probably won’t hit us until we hit the dock and we see there aren’t any other boats there.
“It’s a reward for all the hard work we have done. It’s a great confidence booster. It’s going to be huge for us. We’ve had a mountain to climb to get here.”
Team Vestas Wind finished second with a time of 3 days 13 hours 59 minutes and 38 seconds.
The fleet set sail on the final leg between Lorient and Gothenburg in Sweden on Sunday.
