London Boat Show sponsor CWM FX made a surprise donation of £10,000 to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation on Wednesday.
Sir Ben Ainslie, one of the charity’s founding trustees, received a cheque on their behalf during a
presentation at the Excel in London.
Speaking about the donation, Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation CEO Richard Percy said: “The
donation came as a complete surprise and we would like to thank CWM FX for their generosity.
“We have some really exciting plans for 2015 and this money will help us to achieve our goals, of using sailing as a means to develop skills and capabilities in young people, enabling them to participate in society as responsible and valuable citizens.”
CWM FX general manager Craig Droste said: “Andrew had such drive and determination which filters through the charity and is doing an excellent job to create opportunities for youngsters to excel within the sport of sailing.
“In recognition of this our CEO, Anthony Constantinou, wanted to make a generous donation to help continue this great work.
“We wish the charity every success in 2015 and would be delighted to support them further in their exciting plans.”
This latest announcement comes during an eventful show for the Andrew Simpson Sailing
Foundation, having also been presented with an official certificate for their Guinness World Record breaking event, Bart’s Bash.
The charity was awarded the title for the Largest Sailing Race in 24 hours (multiple venues)
