The management of Ancasta International Boat Sales Limited successfully completed a management buyout of Europe’s largest boat brokerage network on 1 November 2001.

Founded in 1982, Ancasta has grown into an organisation comprising 22 offices throughout the UK and Europe, managing the sales of over 1,000 boats per annum. In addition to being Europes largest brokerage house Ancasta is the number one dealer of the Beneteau range of cruiser and performance yachts and is the distributor for Bavaria Motor Boats throughout the UK.

Nick Griffith and Lis Robinson, who were appointed as Managing Director and Financial Director respectively of Ancasta International Boat Sales four years ago, are very positive about Ancastas future under their ownership.

Nick Griffith, Managing Director, said: “Since our appointment, Lis and I, along with the team here at Ancasta, put in place a long term plan focused on developing the business into a very effective marketing, sales and service operation. This success has been partly achieved by introducing lessons learnt from other industries into the marine leisure business.

“The benefit of Lis’ extensive finance experience has been key to this. The results so far have been terrific and we now have a very strong business, which is continuing to grow in a sustainable fashion. This buyout is another step in that plan. The previous owners from very early on allowed us a free hand to direct the business and this buyout is part of their long-term plan.

“Our plans for the future are to continue with the route we have followed over the last four years, focusing on providing the highest possible level of professional service to our customers together with the supply of leading products such as Beneteau yachts and Bavaria Motor Boats to complement our brokerage business.”
