Emergency services were called to the scene in Taplow at around midday on Sunday

Six people were injured during a boat explosion in Taplow near Maidenhead on Sunday afternoon.

Officers from Thames Valley Police were called to the seen at Bray Lock, Amerden Lane at around 12.40pm.

A number of adults and children were on board the privately owned vessel when it exploded on the Thames.

A man and a woman in their forties and a 12-year-old girl were taken to St George’s Hospital in London for treatment, while another woman in her thirties and a three-year-old boy were taken to John Radcliffe Hospital. All their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Another man who received minor injuries as a result of the explosion was treated at the scene.

Officers remained at the lock during Sunday afternoon and an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances of the explosion.
