Tonne of cocaine worth £56m seized from Dutch yacht in Kent
The vessel was intercepted off the coast
Border Force officers intercepted the yacht off the Kent coast and took it to Dover.
The Force’s deep rummage team found 1,200 kilos of cocaine, over a tonne, stashed on board of the yacht, called Golem.
Two Dutch nationals have been arrested and charged with drug traffic offences.
Elaine Game, from the National Crime Agency’s Dover border investigation team, said: “This was an exceptional seizure.
At this stage the end destination for the boat is unclear, however given the amount recovered it seems likely that at least part of the shipment would have ended up back in Britain.”.
