Police share clues and photos to try and uncover the identity of a naked body found on a Cornish beach
An unidentified man whose naked body was found on a Cornish beach last Tuesday may have been thrown from a ship or boat.
Devon and Cornwall Police are treating the man’s death as suspicious after he was found on Perranporth beach wearing only a pair of socks and one walking shoe.
The man, who had not been in the water for more than 24 hours, had sustained multiple injuries, which are not consistent with drowning and cannot be easily explained.
Authorities have today released an artist’s impression of the man in the hope that someone will be able to identify him.
He’s described as white, aged between 50 and 70-years-old, thin build and 5ft 5in to 5ft 7in in height.
DCI Dave Thorne said: “Without knowing who he is, it is very difficult to find out what happened to him and establish the circumstances surrounding his death.”
“It’s been a week since his body was found on Perranporth Beach and his identity is still a mystery.
“By releasing this image we are hoping that someone will recognise him and come forward with his name, allowing us to progress with the investigation and bring us a step closer to finding out what has happened to him.”

all Police have also issued photographs of items that were found on the beach, including a picture of a young boy taken in 1952, a rucksack, coat and woolly hat.
At present, officers are unsure whether the items found on the beach belonged to the man or if they were lost by members of the public.
