A new documentary, exploring Land Rover BAR's challenge for the 35th America's Cup, will be on BBC Two on 23 July. Watch the trailer here!

The documentary, Taking Flight, follows Sir Ben Ainslie and his team as they prepare to try and win sport’s oldest international trophy – the America’s Cup.

Narrated by presenter Clare Balding, the screening of the new documentary coincides with the America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth on 22-24 July.

It will be shown on BBC Two on 23 July at 0920.

The documentary will show behind the scenes footage of Sir Ben and his team as they work towards trying to win the silverware.

Sir Ben was a key player in the sensational comeback of Oracle Team USA against Emirates Team New Zealand in the 34th America’s Cup in 2013.

Britain has never won the America’s Cup, a competition that dates back to an original race around the Isle of Wight in 1851.

The documentary gained unprecedented access to the team as it attempts to build a world beating catamaran in just two years, to win the America’s Cup.

It is produced by Arrow Media and Executive Producer, Nick Metcalfe and Creative Director, John Smithson, whose previous work includes Touching the Void, Deep Water and 127 Hours.

The music is by Grammy Award and Golden Globe nominated British singer and songwriter Scott McFarnon.

McFarnon has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Beyoncé and Mark Ronson, and was the writer responsible for Daniel Merriweather’s 2009 global hit Red.

McFarnon has now written the team’s official song, the foot-to-the-floor anthem, Running Deep.

The track is being released and will be available for streaming and download from 22 July.
