Coastguards discovered the body of a man on Seatown beach in Dorset yesterday afternoon

The body of a
59-year-old man was found on a beach in Dorset on Monday after an unoccupied
boat washed ashore.




Dorset and Devon
coastguards completed an extensive search of the coastline following the boat’s
discovery at 9am.

The body of a man was located nearby at around 2pm.




The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said:
“A major search was carried out along parts of the Dorset and Devon
coastline involving the coastguard helicopter from Portland, the West Bay,
Swanage, Lyme Regis, Exmouth and Beer Coastguard Rescue Teams, along with the
two Exmouth RNLI lifeboats, the Sidmouth independent lifeboat and the RNLI
lifeboat from Lyme Regis.”




Local police are not
treating the death as suspicious and next of kin have been informed of the
death.
