Two men dressed as Santa and a penguin were rescued by the RNLI on Saturday after reports they were drifting out to sea

Two men in an inflatable toy boat had to be rescued on Saturday following calls from the public concerned over their safety.

The men, who were wearing Santa and penguin costumes, were taken to a Cornish harbour by the RNLI after they were spotted drifting out to sea.

Falmouth Coastguard said they have received a number of calls about the pair who left Marazion paddling towards Penzance without lifejackets.

The men were taken to Newyln Harbour by the Penlee inshore lifeboat at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

It is thought the pair were attempting to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
