A working lighthouse built in the 1800s has gone on the market for more than a million pounds
The Point Lynas Lighthouse on the coast of Anglesey in north Wales has been put up for sale for £1.3m.
The historic working lighthouse, built in 1835, comes with two holiday cottages, freehold of the lighthouse tower and is set amongst 16 acres of breath taking countryside.
The property has also undergone a £700,000 renovation project by the current owners.
Operation of the lighthouse and its 1,000-watt lamp is leased to Trinity House, the lighthouse authority.
The lighthouse, which is fully automated backed up by standby generators, cost a mere £1,165 to build in 1853.
Rightmove’s head of communications Matthew James told the Daily Mail: “It’s not every day you get the chance to buy a lighthouse on Rightmove.
“While many people nowadays look for homes with the latest technology or a blank canvas to work from, luckily for sellers there are plenty of others who seek out something with a bit more character.”
