£280,000 worth of cannabis found on yacht
Two men in their 20s have been charged after Sussex Police discovered the cannabis on board a yacht at Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne.
Anthony Keiran Poyser, 28, and Harrison Law, 21, both of no fixed address, are each charged with being jointly concerned in the improper importation of cannabis to the United Kingdom.
The pair were due to appear before Brighton Magistrates on 10 June.
They were charged after herbal cannabis, with an estimated street value of £280,000, was discovered on a yacht at Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne.
Officers with Sussex Police boarded the vessel after it entered the harbour shortly after midnight on 9 June.
The Eastbourne district police commander, Chief Inspector Emma Brice, said: “I am aware of the concern about the security of smaller ports and harbours around Britain’s coastline.
“I would like to reassure people that police are alert to the situation and will respond whenever circumstances demand.”
