Fishermen rescue whale tangled in a rope
John McKinnon, from Skye in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides, spotted the mammal in distress whilst out walking his dog and he immediately raised the alarm with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team in Ullapool. Read the full story here.
A shipbuilding charity is raising funds to build a Cutty Sark replica

Matthew Etenson sentenced for manslaughter of his partner and her daughter
The gas engineer has been sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for two years, for the manslaughter of his partner Kelly Webster and her daughter Lauren Thornton. He was found guilty in October after a trial at Preston Crown Court. Read the full story here.

Sailor Alex Thomson’s Hugo Boss yacht capsizes during the Transat Jacques Vabre race
Thomson and his racing partner Guillermo Altadill were promptly saved 82 miles off the coast of Spain and they later took to Twitter to reassure their followers.
